Intro

Hi. I started playing bridge in February of this year (2006), and through this blog I intend to document my attempts to become a better player, and the ups and downs of my competitive career. My eventual long-term goal is to become an expert flight-A player and compete at the highest levels.

For now, that's a long way away, but I am pleased
by my progress so far. As of today, I hold 72.91 Masterpoints, am leading my unit in the 0-5 category, and am an ACBL Regional Master. I'd classify my current level of play as a fairly sound intermediate. By that I mean that I usually bid to the proper contract, and then find the one line to go down. Actually, my play of the hand isn't *that* bad, but it certainly could use work, and is the weakest area of my play by a good margin. My best result so far was acheived last Saturday at the local club game, 1st overall (60.84%) in a 13.5 table game, bringing home 3.83 points.

I've got a good memory for abstract detail, so I've taken well to the learning of bidding and conventions and so on. Like to play a fairly full card, but also like natural constructive bidding... I think it's important to strike a balance.
Look for a more detailed post later on my system of choice.
