Life Master!

I know I've been extremly bad about updates, but I thought I would post an update to let everyone know that I have indeed made life master, after playing for 1 year and 5 months. Got the last silver that I needed at the Wilmington, NC Sectional this weekend. Has a number of good results throughout the weekend.

Major Finishes Were:

Fri Aft Pairs: 1st Overall (67%)
Sat Aft Pairs: 4th B Overall (57%)
Sun Switss: Tied for 1st Overall (93/140 VPs, and we beat the team we tied by 17 IMPs in the final round).

To Wilmington!

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Wilmington, NC Regional, and am playing there through the final day on Sunday. If you see me come up and say hi!

Year end wrapup

Looks like semi-final mini-mikkeney results are up from the ACBL. I did better than I ever hoped for when I first started playing. I can remember when I was ecstatic just to get to 5 total points, and regularly win more than that in a single week.

My results (all in 0-5MP at start of year category):

ACBL-wide: 22nd
District 7: 2nd
Unit 119: 1st

Very pleased to do as well as I did, and I didn't even win my first points until April 6th!

My current (through today) point totals are:

A good week...

Last week was perhaps the best week of club play I've had yet. My results were as follows:


Tuesday Night (6 tables): 59.02%, 2nd Overall, 2.00 MP
Wednesday Aft ( 10.5 tables): 60.19%, 3rd Overall, 2.29 MP
Saturday Aft (12.5 tables): 64.77%, 1st Overall, 3.83 MP

I bid a simple and pragmatic 6 spades, expecting a make, all pass.

So 6 is ice cold as long as trumps aren't Txxxx, and clubs similarly split.

Making 7 when my LHO throws a club and allows me to drop the queen.

Charleston, Wrapup

Today was my final day in Charleston, and it ended on a high note. Thursday we started a new knockoup, with a 6 man team composed of myself and one of my regular partners, my mother and her regular partner, and a great new friend of mine, US Junior team member Owen Lien and his dad. That addition moved us up to Braket 5 (of 7). We won the bracket, taking home 17.35 MPs, all Gold, bringing the total for 4 days to 31.78 (24.57 Gold and 7.21 Red). Not a bad way to end the year.

Success!

We won our first knockout, taking home 14.43 MPs, 7.22 Gold, 7.21 Red. The matches were won by 41, 3, 11, and 14.
